Its not continuous voltage, its pulsed. It supposedly heats up the interface of the valve and endcap of the injector.

What about those of us that have the Buzz flash? Timing is everything. I finally had an EGR valve issue. Snow was on the ground here and I 'needed' my truck. My local dealer had me in and out in two hours on a holiday. With only an hour notice.

For the new EGR valve, they were explicit about running the new flash. The explanation I got, in simple terms was that the injectors were being purged/blead off. Now, I have never had an issue other than my EGR valve that crapped out that weekend. The explanation from the service manager made sense to me.

So, now I wait to see what FOMOCO is going to do next. If this proves to be bad and they remove the buz/injector cycling, will those of us with this flash have to pay for the new flash?

I suppose I could just lie and say the truck doesn't run right since the last service.
Darn it. My engine was running great on the original factory flash for the last 50,000 miles until the EGR valve stuck open.

There is a fairly loud buzz from the passenger side of the engine compartment, near the top of the fender area above the tire, when I turn the key on and wait for the glow plug light to go out. The buzz lasts about 10 seconds. What would cause that sound?
the electric vacuum pump, for heat and 4x4.. normal.

Hey BowTie, after reading this I decided I better get this injector Buzz flash before its gone. Ive only heard good about it. I dont like the sounds of this new one. The soonest my dealer could get me in is the 19th of this month, Think Ill still get the buzz flash by then?? They said I would, but he didnt know for sure yet. Thanks for letting us know about the change.

Wow... what a day...

1) New BFG All-Terrain tires at COSTCO (tires + free rotation, balance, repairs and road hazzard warrenty) - all included!!

2) 4-wheel alignment at Ford dealer.

While at dealer (watching tech do my alignment) I spoke with the diesel guys about the 6.0L and the new 6.4L. As a favor, they flashed my truck with the latest flash that buzzes (cleans) the injector spools of oil. They told me to come back in 3 - 4 weeks to get the new flash which will heat them up (as I understood it) and will accomplish what the "buzz" does without the annoying sound. They just did it for free and it took them 15 minutes. They stated to just come back at swing by the back lot and they will take care of me (no waiting).

This is what I call service. As I have posted before, making friends with your service writer and the diesel techs goes a long way. Yes, service writers know just enough to be dangerous, so get to know the diesel techs if you willing to walk around and look in the service bays and maybe sneak in a back door (do so at your own risk).

For the free flash in 4 weeks, I promised them a 12-pack and I feel that it will be the best money/time spent. Previously, I tipped my guy $20.00 after he let me watch him do my tranny flush and he answered a lot of my questions I learned here (just enough to be real dangerous).

Bottom line... dealerships are just that and not "stealerships"... learn to play the game, ask for help, be polite, brown nose once and a while and be respectable. Know that "Motorcraft parts" will cost more... so either shut-up or do the service yourself and by Racor made filters on your own.

I for one, will gladly get the new flash when it comes out in 4 weeks or so (after the cold weather is over - pretty funny huh??). My diesel techs made it sound like that these reflashes can be classified as EPA/emissions related and not be billed the $100 deductable if over 3/36.

Good luck and just my .02 worth.

Wink injector flash

BowTieHtr and others...I had buzz of injectors on my 03,but not full 06e17 recallflash...I find truck starts slightly quicker when cold, have not noticed any change to speak of in power and mileage. buzzing is not that loud...maybe because i have under hood blanket??? truck is stock with 79k kms and change..very close to 80000kms(50k)..perhaps people who complain about buzzing should just learn to live with .if it helps you in long run...hey just my .02 worth.......the winemaker ..2003 6.0psd drw 4/4 KR(white/ariz beige) an amazing truck to pull our Titanium (35ft)........good luck with your trucks

Thanks for giving us some support, in all reality most dealer menu services cost less and use better parts than the local shops and lube centers. We also know everything about the Ford brand, not a little on all brands.. We also give loaners and rush waiters in very quickly.. Some dealers may have an attitude but where I work we bend over backwards and them some to please customers.. Thanks again.. hey we are all truck guys right?? And we all have to make a pay check..

You would here it if you had it, the bottom line is it only cycles them for 20-30 seconds, it helps your truck and I shut mine off and close the garage door and walk away- I do not know what all the "BUZZ" is all about.. AKA complaining..

i had 2 injectors replaced at 10,000 miles under warranty. at 106000 miles in oct. of 06 i had 2 more changed plus a egr valve for $2100.00. so for so good. at 115000 miles 2 different injectors and the egr had to be cleaned for a total of $1600.00. this is a 03 truck with no other problems so far, but this last trip to the dealer they said my edge doesn't work anymore. they had to disconnect it to reflash it and now when it is plugged in it kills the engine. now when i shut the engine down it buzzes for 10 seconds, as per flash, does this sound unusual? i am ready to get another truck even though i haven't had the problems some have had, but i don't think i wan't another 6.0. 6.4 prices are the ****s.
