Just wanted to get some opinions from you guys about which type & color of grill inserts that you think look the best on our trucks?
As for me, I'm very partial to the look of the 1977 double row type, reinforced, painted black with a couple rows of silver gutter guard attached in behind it to make it look really cool!
Of course, If by chance anyone else out there has done any other type of special enhancements to the grills on your trucks. I'm sure that we would all love to hear about it!
Thanks for your interest in this posting, hope to hear back from you on this topic!!
I'm have more liking to the 73-77 shell with the 76-77 inserts and for certain colored trucks the black inserts look great. I also like the 78-79 grills with the black insert and rectangular headlights.
I am partial to the 78-79 grilles With the square headlights. I took mine completely apart this past spring and painted everything black tho I cant stand chrome or aluminum. I even painted the F O R D on the hood black and the front bumper to match.
I used to really like the 76-77 inserts, and was going to change mine when I got the truck (6 years ago) but the 73-75s have really grown on me. Maybe it is because it looks older, I don't know. I have toyed with painting mine black, but wonder if it will look too dark with the green paint.
I don't really care which one it is. As long as it is a Ford truck that is all that matters. I like them all. I have a 78 with the black and argent grill and headlight doors with rectangular headlights. I guess if I had a choice I would have a 67-69. I like the old steel grills.
Actually i like all the grilles all look pretty good and some grilles look mean especially with that red xlt emblem in the middle i dont really care for when people paint the whole grille black blaah
The '73 F-100 I just sold was a dark green and I had painted the grill inserts a "Satin Black". They looked pretty good and gave it a "mean" look that went well with the 15x10 rims and the 390 GT motor (from a 66 Fairlane GT).
My current '74 F100 Explorer is Midnight Blue metallic and when I get to that point, the grill will go back the argent silver. I think its pretty much your own taste.
