How many fuel filters?!?

Ok someone answer me this once and for all. Where is the other fuel filter on my '02 7.3?!?!? I bought the truck used, and didn't get the second diesel supplement owners manual with it, dealership and parts store says it only has the one on top of the engine, but i've seen people on here talk about another one. Does it have 2? If so where the heck is it???

Oh and when the water in fuel light comes on... how do you drain the water??

Thanks guys!!

There is only one on the stock 7.3. Top of the engine in the round canister. The drain valve is the yellow lever at the rear of it. 90º turn and it's open. Make sure you place an additional piece of hose on the drain tube under the engine to keep it from making a mess all over the ground.

Guzzle is right the 7.3 only has one fuel filter unless someone put an extra one on. If they did it should be on the frame rail in between the fuel tank and fuel pump. The 6.0 has two. There have been alot of trouble with the o-rings for the fuel drain valve. They are cheap and wouldn't hurt to get some in case yours go when you open the valve.

I started reading about o-ring leaks when the ultra low sulfar diesel came out. That seems to be the culprate or maybe it's just a coinsidense. I only turn mine when i change the fuel filter. I haven't had mine leak yet but i bought a couple o-rings to have on hand just in case.

Sabre2th,

Great step by step instructions and the pics make it look easy!
This will help anyone with the 7.3 that does their own work.
