I have a pre-pump Strictly Diesel water/fuel separator that installed with my hutch mod.

I've drained the filter a few times and sometimes I'll have a lot of water in it and other times not so much. How often should the filter be changed? I have about 5500 miles on it right now.

 

Not to hijack, but I am curious on how often I should be checking it for water.

 

I do it an average of every 6 weeks.

After the truck drove through Canada and filled up along the Alcan hwy there is a TON of water it in the filter.

I usually get fuel now at Carrs/Safeway or Fred Meyers. Very little water.

 

I'm a change-fuel-filters-with-every-service kinda guy. But that's just me.

Price of injectors vs. price of fuel filters IMO.
Excessive? Probably.
Do I care? Nope.

I drain H20 every 1k-2.5k miles. Can't be too careful these days.
