I have an '04 F250 and I just had the #7 injector replaced. We took her for a spin, everything ran great. After the test run, shut the pickup off and when I went to leave about 10 min. later, it would turn over, but would not start. Several hours later it still will not start. This seems wierd to me considering it ran great right after, but now it won't fire. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Hopefully one of the on line tecks will be here soon. One thing-- when was the last oil change and what weight oil? Also did you have a starting problem before the repair?
Last oil change was 200 miles ago when my oil cooler blew up! (That's another story) I'm running 15/40 Oil. No problems starting before, this is the first time.I replaced the injector because it was malfunctioning and was stuck open. Oil pressure seems fine when cranking.
There is a possibility the STC(Snap To Connect) fitting between the high pressure oil pump and the branch tube block has failed. There is a revised repair kit available for this concern. First, air in the system after an injector replacement can cause a VERY extended crank time, and once started, can be removed by performing 12 heavy accelerations from 25 to 55 mph. How long after the oil pressure guage comes up did you try to crank it?
Right after the guage was showing pressure. Unfortunately my truck is in a shop right now, in the morning i'll go get the codes it threw. No doubt that will give a little more insight as to what the problem might be.
UPDATE-----After a couple weeks of being in and out of a shop, we figured out the problem; A blown up high pressure oil cooler, and faulty fuel pressure regulator. I'm getting real sick of this truck and I have had nothing but problems with it since the day I bought it. Unfortunately I do not have the warranty because this truck is a rebuild. (My bad). I think the only cure to my frustration is to sell the piece of crap!! Any thoughts? (Reminder: I have spent about $4300 in 700 miles in costly notorious 04' 6.0 repairs.)
