Merc Tailgate
I went to get my steel bed floor the other day and couldn't believe my good luck on finding a new reproduction Merc Tailgate at George Moir Antique auto parts in Stony Plain Ab.
It seems that Northren Classics has come to a licence agrement with ford and is able to make these again.
I will add some pictures and update my Gallery

I was trying to post pictures of my old tailgate but seeing as I had already Hi_jacked Bobby's thread on his poor boy tailgate with them it wouldn't let me.

Hi Don, now quit teasing, what`s the price in Canadian $ and do they have Mercury tailgates for the 53/56 year models?
I had heard rumors that Mercury tailgates were available then they weren`t so thanks for clearing this up.

Don,
Beautiful tail gate man!! I'm jealous. Maybe I should get one for my truck, my F1 has a 51 Mercury motor. I will definetly check them out when I order a tail gate.

It wasn't cheap $650.00 Canadian.
They are from Northern Classic Truck parts http://www.northernclassictrucks.com/4250.htm I don't see the Merc tailgate listed but I know that if you contact them they will let you know if they have them or when they will be running them again.
Moir's had 10 that came in around Christmas time and only have 1 left.

very nice. but i wonder, as posted above, what about the 53-56 tailgate. and wasnt there a Mercury tailgate that had a scripted Mercury badge on it? that would definetly be something to hang on the wall.

There is currently a Mercury tailgate on uPay but the seller doesn't know what year it is. He is assuming it is for a pre-53 because it doesn't fit his 1/2 ton 1955 Ford (too big) or my 3/4 ton 1953 Ford pickup(too narrow).

It looks to me to be newer than '52 but wouldn't the tailgate be the same for '53 up to late '80s since the boxes were basically the same? Just curious what this gate could be off of.
