I have owned 3-4 of these trucks. They all got 12-13mpg highway empty. One was an auto, they all had either the 3.55 gears or the 4.10s. These trucks work perform WAY better with the 4.10 gears.

If one of your first questions that comes to your mind when looking at trucks like this is, "What kind of mileage..." Then this probably isn't your truck.

If you drive it like a great grampa, you might eek out double digits (like maybe 10-12). If you drive it like you stole it, maybe 6-8.

My last truck was a 74 Dodge with a bb 440 I built myself with 11:1's, .474 lift cam, 906 heads (converted to unleaded), 4.10's, and I got 6 mpg.

And it seems like it's almost always a new guy/gal, too. Doesn't the date in the upper left corner of each post mean anything?

Sorry, but I'm an admin on several sites. I see this necroposting every day and the regulars see a new post and reply, adding to the necro.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You guys are having some thread date OCD.

460s are great the way they were built if used for the purpose they were built. Smooth, powerful, quiet and reasonably economical.

Professionally modified 460s are great and can kick some chevy tail.

When hacks mess with them and use them to try to live out automotive fantasies they are a big waste of money and time. Don't try to live your life like it is a beer commercial.
