I'm going to install the 6637 mod this weekend.....probley do the zoodad mod..but is it necessary ? If I do it , I've read ???'s on here from other folks about water and bugs getting in.... I live in the Great North West ( Seattle area ) so its a concern. My idea is to do a series of smaller holes to act like a filter / wick.... would this be alright...I know it's probley not wrong...it's just a matter of how much air I want to travel thru realy.... pro's ? con's ? thx for input..........
I have a fairly large hole for my zooDad and have driven though rain so hard I could barley see the front of the truck and there were no signs of moisture near the filter. Only about the first 2-3 inches of the snorkle had signs of moisture. I think it was Kwikk that ran through a Jun bug storm and clogged his filter with them (fixed with a couple of hard wacks), that is why I added a screen over the front of my zooDad.
A series of holes would be fine. I had the one large hole and later installed a screen over it. Bugs were collecting on my AFE filter. Added the prefilter sock over the filter also. You might consider a prefilter sock as Springer Pop and others have done on their kwik filters.
When I did my zoodad last weekend, I didn't have anything to use as a screen, but will be adding that in before long. I also did a modified version of Pop's prefilter sock, and it is pictured below.
amiller93 was kind enough to add one of my threads to a mod web page that has more details about how I made my version. That same web page has Pop's instructions as well, I believe.
