My steering wheel is squeeking when you are turning I was wondering is there is a fix for this. The stealership said they will have to pull the steering wheel to find out what it is. It squeek when you move it any amount, either left or right.
Is it a squeak IN the steering wheel, or does it sound more like a transmitted squeak, like its furthen down the shaft? Sometimes all it takes is some silicone spray lube in the collar (place a drip rag under it!), some in the boot where the shaft goes thu the firewall, and some grease to the Knuckle under the hood.
Mine did that every winter up until this year. Cold temps made it squeek. I tried lube like mrfixit just suggested, but it never worked for me. This year I did nothing and it went away
lol mine does that too, i just pretend its my pet squirrel lol jk
For some reason that struck me as HILARIOUS and I just let out a laugh at 6 in the morning. You're going to make me wake up my roommate.
Anyway I was going to say mine does the same, but only every now and again. Seems to me it's just the plastic on the steering wheel rubbing, but I could be wrong.
Pocket mine hasn't been doing it lately either..maybe it's been so cold, even the squeek doesn't want to come out.
Mine only does it when it's really cold. It kind of sounds like the plastic cover on top of the column is rubbing the stearing wheel. Good news is, my friend's 05 does the same thing, uh 3 years later. Guess it isn't very far up on the list of stuff to fix.
My '99 has done the same thing since new, and I have tried everyhthing in my garage to stop it until about a year ago. The squeak comes from the rubber boot at the firewall. A couple o' shots of tri-flow lubricant at the point where the S/W shaft goes thru the boot while turning the S/W and presto! no more squeak! BTW, I have tried WD-40, vaseline, silicone spray, and others- tri-flow was the only thing that stopped it. Oh, one more thing- be sure the engine is running when you turn the wheel, or you will end up w/ a big puddle of ps fluid on the ground!(I speak from experience here)
