I just purchased a new 06 screw 4x4. I thought I would join the forum and see if anyone has any advice on fuel mileage or mantaince tips. Currently I am getting around 15 mpg and I have around 2k miles on the truck.
a) don't calc fuel mileage for the first 5-10K
b) if you have a 5.4L have the plugs changed at 30K
c) keep it at about 65 on the highway, thats when i personally get the best mileage
d) if you have the continental tires or general tires, save some money, cause you'll have to replace them soon...
15 mpg, your doing great. As for maintenance tips, get your first oil change done by the dealer. Let them fight with the overly tight factory oil filter....
I have a 2007 4x4, 5.4 XLT scab with about 500 miles (just got it about a month ago) so I won't be looking at mpg for a few thousand miles. I'd be willing to bet I'm getting around 10 or 11 right now in town. But for the past few weeks it's been snowing almost every day and for the last week the temp hasn't been above 11 or 12 degrees. The roads are nothing but ice so it can get 2 mpg right now and it would be worth it. However, I reserve the right to whine about milage when the weather gets better and I want to drive more!
