Engine Cooling Q?
Engine Cooling Q?
I'm new to this board and new to the Bronco I have... 1988 EB 5.8 efi. My question is this: The truck seems to run warm even hot at idle, I've noticed there is no shroud from the cooling fan to the radiator, is this merely a coincidence? Also the Voltage meter reacts very poorly to anything at all running besides the engine itself. Just rolling down the window make it drop down to 10-11ish, would it be better to go with two batt. or a higher amp alternator?
Thanks

You should be able to find one at a local parts yard. I think that anything from a bronco or F150 around the year of your truck should fit fine. Call around to some of the yards in your area and I bet they can find you one even if they don't have one in house. Unless you are planning on dressing up your engine compartment you need not waste your money on a new one. I bet the fan shroud isn't your problem though. I have run many trucks without a shroud and had no problems with overheating at idle or at anytime for that matter. I would check your thermostat and make sure you are running the right temp stat. Maybe a new radiator cap?
