i have an 06 f350 6.0 stock intake with 4to5inch turbo back exhaust with 16000 miles. i just made a trip from alaska to idaho about two thousand miles in to my trip the check airfilter light came on and the roads had been pretty muddy and nasty so i stopped and pulled my airfilter out it looked pretty dirty so i replaced it with a new one. the light didnt go off. i drove the rest of the way to idaho never saw a bit of black smoke even under load on the hills. just to day i figured id reset the computer by disconnecting the batteries well still same thing light is still on. any ideas????????
Did you reset the filter minder under the hood? Not positive that that effects the light in anyway but its worth a shot.
We have a filter minder? Where? LOL I havent even looked under the hood yet.. Well once and that was it.. I'll crack it next weekend when I do Oil/Fuel Filters..
The minder has a button reset and yes, its wired and needs to be reset when you replace the filter and should also be reset when you check it. Thats what the manual says too.
If the minder reset does not do it apparently there is a smaller sensor tube that runs up front somewhere behind the headlight. The book states that if this becomes clogged with snow, ice MUD, it will cause the light to come on.
