I use carb cleaner or gas along with a q-tip to clean mine. Just take it off, fill it with carb cleaner and let it sit for a moment, then use the q-tip to clean the carbon out and off the spring. Just make sure to watch the tops of the q-tips and not let them come off in the IAC. :-X23
Stands for "Idle Air Control". It's a valve adjacent to the Throttle body that controls air intake at idle. They are prone to carbon fouling and that causes them to stick causing a rough or no idle condition.
I have a 98 E150 and I have that intermittent no idle condition. I don't have a book for the van and it sounds like I need to clean and / or replace the IAC. Can anyone tell me what it looks like so I know I'm cleaning the right part?
