I've cleaned 2 of them before replacing them. You just hold it with the solenoid end up and spray carb cleaner into it and let it run out. Repeat until the junk running out is clear. the bad news is that neither one I cleaned lasted more than 2 weeks before it was sticking again. So, clean it to confirm that's the problem, then go buy a new one 'cause you'll need the new one soon.
