Block heater idiot light?

I did a search & couldn't find anything, but is there any lind of indicator light, (idiot light or otherwise) that comes on when the block heater is plugged in? I used mine last night for the first time, and didn't see anything. I know it was working, because I had warm air coming from the vents as I pulled out of the driveway...
thanks,
Peter

BTW, truck is an '02 F350 7.3

No, there is no light for the block heater. The only way you would know it is working is like you said, you pulled out and it was warm.

I don't need to ask I already KNOW! hanging the cord off the drivers side mirror is a good reminder.

the only way you can tell if it is working is to plug it in and then listen under the drivers side front wheelwell and listen for the sound of crackling for a couple of seconds, mine usually takes about five seconds after i plug it in to start crackling, and the crackling only lasts about 2-3 seconds.

I use a cord with a lighted end, that way i can tell if it get unplugged on accident from the house outlet.
