6 CD changer jammed

Gentlemen,

I have the factory 6-CD changer in my 2000 EB Expy. The cartridge won't come out. When I press the eject button, I can hear the motor turn, some gears engage, the cartridge makes a little sideways movement, then all stops with no ejection, and if the stereo is on a little message lights up on the panel that says "ejection error".

Looking down between the narrow space around the cartridge, I don't see any CDs half-way engaged. I tried waving a wire back and forth in that space, and nothing's there.

I've tried inserting a hook to pull at the same time as it tries to eject - no luck. It's tightly held in there. I've tried pressig on the cartridge in different directions to see if it'll free from something, but no luck. And I've loked evryewhere for a manual ejection ejection button (usually hidden inside a hole for a wire), but don't see one.

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

If you can not get it out, look on Ebay and there is a company in Ca. that will repair it for around $90-$100. I sent mine in last year and had it back in 2 weeks and it worked great. The changer is easy to take out of the vehicle. Sorry I can't remeber the name of the company but just look in ebay for a Ford Expy changer and you will see their listing for repairs. Good luck

If it's not stuck in play mode, you can take a thin metal file or ruler, and slide it under the magazine from right to left. This should cause the ejection of the magazine. If it is in play mode, the magazine will not eject and you will have to take apart the unit.

for my 06 navigator the issue was a loose ribbon cable

Here is a repair video I made. Not sure if it is the same for yours.
