I've went through the posts and while I see problems similar to mine, I don't see a resolution other than replacement.
What I have is a 2000 Expedition EB with the six disc CD changer - when I insert the magazine loaded with CDs, it sounds like it is loading the CDS, but the display inidicates an empty magazine. On a previous maintenance trip, the dealer did something to fix the problem, but it has returned, and of course, the truck is out of warranty. I know that they did not replace the unit, but did something to reset or fix it - does anyone have any clues as to what they could have done? I'd prefer not to take it back to them and get charged an arm and a leg for something that I can do myself.
Of course, I haven't contacted the dealer - thought I'd try here first.
Is it possible that your previous trip to the dealer (when they fixed the problem...at least temporarily) was recent enough to fall within a time frame in which they guarantee their repair work? Even if not, perhaps they might want to bolster their image by doing something nice...boy, am I an optimist!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Jul-02 AT 11:25 PM (EST)]I too had a problem with my CD changer.I kept getting the NO DISC message. I sent it to the following place and had it rebuilt, although it took about 3 months to get it back. Not many people will work on the Clarion CD changer without the schematics. Here is their website http://www.carstereohelp.com/ Good Luck.
My model is much older (a '97) but we periodically have to reach into the console and blindly trace the wire connection to the CD changer and jiggle it to fix the "No DJ" message. My wife is getting good at contoring her arm and tugging the right wire because every few months it needs fixing.
I have the same problem ('NO CD') now with my 1998 Expedition 6-cd changer. Dec 2000, Ford replaced it with a new one while it was still under warranty. Now 1 1/2 years later, it craps out again. I will look for that wire to jiggle.

I had the same problem, but used one of those $5-$7 CD Lens Cleaners, and the problem went away. Two months so far without any problems.
