1999 Expy, daughter changed CD's when I was not their, now unit will not play. When I hit the eject button, I see the first track slide in and out, obviously the mag was loaded wrong. Now, How do I get it out?
TIA
Don G.

Do you mean the cd's were loaded in the magazine wrong, or that the magazine was loaded in the changer wrong?

Does the in-dash display give any kind of message?

Hi Greg,
I get a message on the in dash unit that says cd/error.
The magazine is loaded into the CD player, and again, when I hit the eject button to remove the magazine, it does not come out, only the tray that hold the cd is going in and out a few times then stops.
Hit the ejct button again, nothing happens.
Turn off the ignition and back on, the scenario repeats itself.
cd/error and track that contains the cd just goes in and out, and cannot remove the magzine. I did notice a couple of scres that hold a cover that if I remove I may be able to access the magazine area, but wanted to see if others had this probelm and what the remedy was.
Thanks and looking forward to your reply.
Don G.

Dgri,

Sorry, but I may not be of much help other than to cite some troubleshooting info from my '98 Expy audio guide. It claims that the display will show cd/error followed by a code, as follows:

CD-ER 0001 = (Disc upside down or unreadable)
CD-ER 0002 =(CD eject error)
CD-ER 0100 =(Computer cd loaded)
CD-ER (other codes)= Mechanism malfunctions

I'd reason to think that #0001 and #0100 errors would still allow for the cartridge to eject, so I'd assume your problem may be one of the other two. If it was me, I'd take some
needle-nose pliers and carefully pull the magazine out, inspect, reload, and re-insert.

As far as pulling the unit out, it is pretty easy, I had to a couple of weeks ago when mine fritzed out. However, that did no good. I wanted to see if there was a worn part or loose spring, or foreign object. The guts of it were a circuitry board which I couldn't mess with, and the only parts I could visually inspect (inside the empty magazine slot) I could have done so without removing it.

Hopefully it is a warranty item for you. Sorry all I can help with is the codes.

Have '99 in getting the changer replaced today......seems to be an intermittent thing because i was able to hit the button every now and again and the cartridge would eject 1 outta every twenty times or so, but eventually jam again..........i tried bending the little roller on the passenger side wall of the changer.......seemed like that might have been what was causing cartridge to wedge itself in there..............don't worry cd's aren't lost............and don't yell at your daughter about screwing up you cd changer it..hehehehehe.............Goodluck!
