Hey guys I was looking into get some Ford trucks a 1946 and 1947. But I need to get the VIn Numbers to make sure they aren't stolen and be able to start the process to get them titles. I'm 21 and don't really no much about these older year trucks. Where could I find the Vin Number for these.

The VIN can be found in three places.
1. Top of the drivers side frame rail near the steering box.
2. On the top of the bell on the trans, you need to remove the floor over the trans to see it.
3. On a plate on the inside of the glovebox door.
You folks are correct, there is a lot of information through out the threads, I have used the search function many times when I need info. I'm 65, retired and building my first truck, so bear with me. I'm having the time of my life.
I am restoring a 46 as well. any resources out there that may be of benefit? thank you. Bob in ME

I just bought it. it has a 9"rear and the frame is sweet. This will po some, but I plan to rod my dirst one. I'm going to put a new front sub frame and tub the back...big block pontiac power. however i bought 4 frames 6 cabs, and a bunch of flat head motors with it....sounds crazy, I know. Any ideas about a front end that will work on this idea... thanx for your response. Bob
e-tek, am at carlisle pa. flea market. you would be surprised at the amount of parts for your truck that are for sale!!! new and used!! need anything????
Hey e-tek, great looking Merc, I like your truck that way too. My 46 hasn't made much progress this summer due to other projects. I'm saving for a crate engine anyway, Almost there, should have it after Xmas. No pictures yet, I don't have a digital camera so have to scan pictures. Thanks for asking
Hey petey - THANKS for the offer - I haven't been on in awhile - was in China for the Olympics - incredible place Beijing. Luckily, my 46 is fairly complete. I was even able to rob some parts from a parts truck not long ago. I guess if I ever "restore" it, then I'd be needing all kinds of new stuff. Until then, what you see is what I drive!
that sounds quite entertaining. i like your truck just the way it is!! saw a couple of complete noses with trim, and a two complete dashes, plus a tailgate. just thinking about the group while i shop!
I have 2 rear fenders I'm getting ready to sale if you need some. They are not perfect, but if someone can do good body work then they can have a nice set of original metal fenders for a 46-47 truck. They are 1/2 ton fenders to by the way. Scott
I'm interestef in the fenders. What are you asking? Bob (46 fool)
