the thing about disabling it is, if you want to use it, just lock them yourself when you need to. i drive mine for work and then the fam rides in it sometimes on the weekends.
i just have a problem with vehicles making the decision to lock them, i guess i always want to be in control. my wife will agree on that one. lol. but dont' all guys?
not sure why you have to disable the feature. All you have to do is pull the door handle and the truck unlocks. I love the autolock feature and wish more cars had it. You ever have someone try to jump into your car at a stoplight? Not fun...
I'm not sure why something that seems like a good idea for all has to be forced upon everyone using that product. In the case of automatic door locks or belt minders, there ought to be a simple way for a new owner or user to enable or disable such features. Also, I don't need to be remimded that my key is in the ignition the entire time I am cleaning my vehicles with the door open and radio on, for instance.
While many folks live or pass through areas where a scenario like the one you describe could occur, others, like me, even in New York State, live far from such areas. Heck, I gotta drive 14 miles going one way or about 50 miles when going the other way to work before the first traffic light.
I really despise the "one size fits all" mentality.
To dapgar: Is it that we like always to remain in control, or do we take offense when some pocket-protector, pencil-necked engineer geek makes a decision that we have to put up with for the rest of our lives? It's this one for me.

After walking around the truck a few times and saying to myself "you idiot you did it again " Now I open the drivers door and then hit the unlock button.

Been doing that myself and when I forget I walk around.
The auto door locks and the seatbelt chime are easily disabled by the owner, as described in the owners manual. If you want the Key in chime disabled take it to your local dealer and they can easily disable it for you, for a small fee of course
