Pulling my oil pan tomorrow

Like the title states, Im putting a new oil pan on the 300 tomorrow. It is so rusty that oil leaks past the rusted areas. I got a pan, and will be getting a gasket and new motor mounts tomorrow. I figured ide replace the mounts while im at it. Now Ive read that ill need to drop the starter and disconnect the 2 motor mounts. Then jack up the motor. Is there anything else I should do? Any advice or tips you can give me? I plan on spraying everything down with some PB blaster before hand. Where do I jack up the motor exactly? It says something about the isolater? What the heck is that?

What year is the truck, auto or manual trans, 4x4 or 4x2? I've done this on both my 95 F150 and my dads 92. I also removed the transmission mount. I jacked from the transmission with a block of wood between it and the jack. I had to jack the trasmission until it touched the bottom of the cab floor. Thats the only way I had enough room to get the oil pan to clear the front cross member and the bellhousing. Make sure you also unbolt the oil pump and pickup tube and drop it into the pan. Otherwise the pan will not clear it. When reinstalling get the one piece rubber gasket from felpro. It should come with plastic snap studs that aid with installing the oil pan. If you have a manual make sure that you read the proper torque pattern for reinstalling the oil pan bolts.

Im sorry, Im use to other forums where my info is next to my name. Its an 88 f250 4x4 with the 300 I-6. It is manual trans. Hmm, is it easier to just do it the way you described? Please elaborate...

Thats most of the basics for it. When you get the engine jacked all the way up take some wood blocks and put them between the motor mounts and the frame perches. That way you can take the jack out from under the transmission so you can pull the pan out.

Maybe too late, but I would recommend installing a new oil pump. Wish I had done that with mine when I did the pan. My oil pressure was a bit on the low side (mid 30s hot, with 10w30, whereas spec is 40-60 psi). I suspect either pump wear (remember, only the pump is exposed to unfiltered oil) or a weakened oil pump pressure relief valve. Anyway, I run 10w40 and get low to mid 40s on the psi. My pan wasn't leaking yet, but when the tranny was out, my mechanic said that would be a good time to do it as it is easier without the tranny in place.

Sorry, but my plans are to just do what is needed. Opening up a can of worms is the last thing I want to do. What is the best procedure for pulling my oil pan? I have read a few.

The ones above are just about the best way, jack up the front (you're gonna need more than 1" blocks) jack up the tranny mount. Also, make sure you unbolt the egr valve so you don't take out the wiper motor. The intake itself should clear, but I took mine off anyway. You're luck you have a manual transmission. No cooler lines or shift linkage to mess with. I couldn't even get my pan off with the C6 tranny.

welp got under the car and saw how rusty and horrible everything looked. I decided to get a bunch on JB weld an smear the heck out of it. I just dont have the time or the money to put into this truck right now. Looks like its going to need to find a new home. Its really a shame. the motor runs great and the body and bed are almost rust free. Unfortunatley the undercarrige is a different story.
