e40d (~17qts), and the bw 1356 (2qts) both take mercon automatic transmission fluid
I used a synthetic 75w-90 in the the front dana50 (2qts) and the rear ford/sterling 10.25" (about 3 3/4 qts).
An 80w-90 gl-5 is recommended for the rear for anything other than severe use. Castrol hypoy C + a friction modifier meets the ford specs.
For towing or heavy duty use a 75w-140 synthetic is recommended.
My 10.25 is a limited slip, which I think can be particular on what fluid/additives it takes.
The coolant is supposed to be a heavy duty low silicate formula astm 4985 (not 3306), and you need to a sca like DCA4 to prevent cavitation.
I hope this helps and is right.

a dana rear end takes a 90 weight gear oil that meets ford specs of eswm2c105-a whatever that is. It is a ford "premium rear axle lubricant". I think it can use a 80w-90 also if it meets the same spec.

Dana fill plug should be on the back of the axle.
Sterling fill plug is drivers side front beside the pinion shaft.
Most of the older trucks had the 10.25" Sterling axle, bulletproof.

I would take either one.
I have loaded 9760 pounds on my dump bed with a 10.25" Sterling, gross was 17,980 pounds with that load on it.
No problems at all.
As I said, bullet proof.
