I'm having to do some modification. I have the original style panel truck seats for my 55 panel truck but there are no seat tracks. I need to know the height of the seat tracks, I'm guessing the panel trucks rode at the same height as the regular bench seats? Could someone get me a measurement?
I have a '48 panel but I am pretty sure Ford used the same seats from '48-56. My seat tracks are just a hair over 5".
Originally I didn't have seats or hardware for the first panel truck I have but Ilya(51panelman), gave me the idea of using the seat tracks from a mid-'80s full size Blazer. They work just like the stock setup;the driver's seat moves back and forth while the passenger seat tilts forward. The Blazer's harware needs to be shortened to match the height of the original Ford but I personally think is a sturdier design than the Fords. The Blazer's setup could be made to look vintage with a little work. By the way, most of the panels out there were modified and the original seats were pitched so not many people would be able to tell if it's an original setup or not. I just thought I would mention this if you haven't already started a from scratch setup.
Thanks Bob, I'm just starting to look at things so the info. helps. I'll probably wait a day for snow to melt. I can't believe it, SNOW in So. Calif. I love it!
