I just want to know if this would be safe to do. I'm thinking of mounting my bucket seats on the bottom frame of one of my bench seats. I would be using the original bench track and I plan on reinforcing the bench frame. Also could I mount the seat belts to the frame also? Since the seat belts I have won't reach the floor at the new height. I can add a third slide to the bench frame to the floor.
It may not be the perfect plan, but it surely beats no seat belts. It is best if you can use some very large fender washers or steel plates on the bottom side of the floor. A reinforced area of the floorboard is definitely best. 50 year old sheetmetal will tear pretty easy.

I installed some Mitsubishiiekkdiek what ever that little foreign truck is lap belts and they were to short to reach the tall bench seat of my 50 f1 so I had some steel that was the supports for a gas tank on a jeep cherokee They where even reinforced at the bottom with a hole for the bolt with a seatbelt fender washer. the top of the strap metal I drilled for the seat belt attachment and it worked out great. the the top lap belt portion I put some 1/4 metal reinforcement behind the lip in the top of the cab and drilled the sheet metal and the reinforcement and use the old hardware from the Mitsubishi belt. This trucks belt system is the cleanest I could find next best is some older s10 pu's. Now I need to upgrade the seats and remodify the belt again. even have a center person lap belt. Ed ke6bnl and they do lock up on a down hill decent hitting the brakes. Ed
Thanks guys! I was planning on putting washers under the floor. The Retractable seat belt may be long enough to sit on the floor but the buckle would have to mount to the frame.
