which harmonic balancerdo I need?

89 e250 351w c6

I bought a motor from a 95 truck.

The harmonic balancer is damaged on the old motor. Which harmonic balancer should I get?

It seems like they may have changed design in the 90's.

Also wondering if a performane balancer would work good.
Thanks alot.

I bought this balancer for my 77 302 from Summit and it should also work for your 351W as well:

Hey guys I have a quick question I posted it up in the 80-86 forum but, people either don't understand all my rambling in that post or just don't know.

I need to know about the harmonic balancer for a 84 supercab with 351W carbed, all that I have found on the internet don't have the spike ring, I don't know what it's called exactly maybe has something to do with crank position or something. Anyway every one that I have seen on the internet is the same balancer and it's listed for 82-96 but the spiked ring is not on there. I have a 28oz balancer from my old 302 that I could use if it doesn't have to have the spikes but if it does have to have them, where in the world can I get one from??? Thanks

I'll check to see if there is anything on there. I just assumed there was since it has a different ignition system than the Duraspark II. Man I hope there isn't any sensor mounted down there that would be great. I finally found a site called damperdoctor.com that has a chart that you look up the casting numbers on.

Damper Dummies

Unfortunately the Damper Doctor listings (at least for Fords) have quite bizarre information so don't trust them. Some gems from the listings are as follows:
260 V8 from 62-68,
289 81-up,
351 62-68,
427 68-76...
etc.

Yeah I figured that out. The balancer was still at my mom and dad's house so I called them to get the number off of it. My dad then tells me that the motor that is in it isn't the motor that came in the truck, the PO replaced it so I don't know exactly what year the engine is. The number as near as he could tell was E1TE C3A or it could have been F1TE C3A so I don't know if its an 81 or 91. I didn't have time to see if there was a sensor down there because of going to the Halloween/Fall Festival at Church last night. Today when I get home I'm gonna try to see if I can see the casting numbers on the block, that will help tremendously. Thanks guys!

Okay guys I got under the truck and it does look like there is a sensor mounted where the timing tab is. I also have the casting numbers off the block now! E4AE 6015 FA3 6012. So I know its a 1984 engine and looking at classicmustang.com's decoding site the A is for a Galaxie. Well they didn't make Galaxies in 1984 so I'm assuming its an LTD maybe?? Any help with this would really be appreciated. I'm fixing to look up balancers for these cars and see what I come up with.

Thanks

I did some searching on here for the casting and from the other posts, and I get that it may be a 351W a 1984 casting that was cast on (some month) 12,1986. I looked up the balancer for a 1984 LTD country Squire wagon (only LTD with a 351W I could find) and it has the same balancers listed as when I did the search for the 1984 Truck. And if it helps it has a four bolt pulley.

Just because there's an A in the casting/engineering/part number prefix...especially with mechanical parts, the number could fit anything, not just a Crown Vic. Casting numbers do not lead to part numbers. However, the same bare block was used on cars & F Series trucks, Bronco's and Econolines thru 1988.

Damper ID number: E1TE-C3A = E1TE-CA = 1980/83 F100/350 351W. Ford part number: E1TZ6316B (this part number is no longer valid)

E4TZ6316B .. Damper / Fits 1984/87 E150/350 - F150/350 - U150 (also used on the cars? I don't know..I have no cars refs this new). This part number is not used after 1987. It's still a good number. The Ford suggested retail (list) price is $161.63 / If you buy it from FTE sponsor DIRECTFORDPARTS, your price is $114.24. Direct's link is on the forum main page, you can contact them with any questions. (no, I don't work for them...or any FTE sponsor...I just used their link to check the parts availability)

Info source: 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog- 351W engine ~ Section 60.5.

If you're running a carb, you don't need the crankshaft position sensor used on that 84 CFI 5.0. Just toss all that crap away.
