Ah I see it now . . . Well looks like a good solution but really takes you away from the ability to remove your tailgate going forward. Have to always have two people to do the operation.
I think I'll spend the extra monies to get the damper strut which one person can deal with and it appears easier to take the tailgate off when you need to.
BUT I do like the option out there to consider. Thanks bneafus! Pts to you!

OK fellas, got the damper from Whitney yesterday. Tried to make it work for my F350. Not happening! Definitely different. This one must be only for the F150's like we suspected.
Well in talking w/ Auto truck toys they said the sales rep told them they had inventory but come to find out they didn't so it will be a few weeks still. Oh well . . .
Wolf, I think I'm gonna try the spring metal one. $20.00, figure it's worth a try. Can see your concern about pulling the gate, but mine never comes off. I'll report...Brian
I just ordered the kit from JC Whitney on the 25th and received it today. seems fairly easy to install. But I have a problem. It does not work with my 07 250 SD tailgate. Anyone know anything about this ?
It means they have the ones for the F150 but are back ordered on the ones for the F250. Since they don't have them they don't list them yet. Will be a few more weeks before they arrive for those/our trucks.

Same thing I ran in to Bro. It wasn't real clear, that's the one for the F150. I couldn't make it work either.
Are you guys that are getting the wrong one from JC Whiney ordering a sping type one or an air cylinder one? My catalog has a different part number for the f-150 and super duty air cylinder dampeners. It has the f-150 as BAR293471F and the super duty as BAR293474F.
You are right it does not show the super duty one on their website. Here is the page.
It does have it on page 7 in the Truck catalog with the 2007 Silverado on the front that I just got last week. I'm guessing they might not be in stock, so they don't have it on the website but they went ahead and put it in their catalog.
OK Fellas, Just got the one that 200606mike told us about (the $20.00 spring metal one). Had a nice day after work(been rare here in Colorado!), so I tore in to it. Pretty easy install, about an hour 2 beer (six when you figure you REALLY need 2 helpers!) job. Just like Mike and the add says....Probably does take about 80% of the weight! I really like it! Will make it hard to take off the tailgate if you need to regularly(also makes it much harder to steal!!). If you're gonna get one PM me so I can tell you about one step they neglected to mention, and I can save you some pisstivity . Definitely wanna measure twice and drill once!! I give it 2 thumbs up!!.....Brian
