2WD, Auto, 3.73, no load: pre-6637, 5" and DK...17-19; afterwards: 20-22

 

Talk about a "NO-B.S." answer!! LOVE IT!!!

 

I have an 01 F-350 4 X 4 crew cab long bed 7.3 71k miles with the Banks Stinger sytem (chip, exhaust, waste gate, trans command, and Banks Brake) and K & N cold intake filter system. I'm getting on average 13.5. I live in a hilly area with lots of stop lights.

Now if i'm on an open road highway and I reset the mpg computer I can get up to 23 mpg. Mind that this is as I'm moving keeping my speed at a consistant 65 mph and reset the computer (the computer is very accurate- i've checked and it's in within 1/10 of a mpg). But if I come to a stop then and resume my speed of course my mpg will come down then take at least 15 to 20 miles of driving to get back up to 22 or 23 average mpg.
It really seems to me that it really depends where you live and what kind of driving your doing. If you live a in a rural area that is flat then your of couse going to get much better average mpg. I live in a very congested hilly area so that really sucks the mpg big time. On the open road makes a huge difference. Also this engine shines when the rpm's are kept under 2k.

 

Bone stock 01 F-350 dually crew 4x4, 3.73's = 14 MPG at 65 highway, 12 in town. And I drive REALLY slow. My truck just sucks....fuel.

 

Last 11 fillups (mpg average, running B5, in cold condittions (-5 to 30 degrees), 75% highway driving @ 65-70 mph...basically the same truck you have (early 99, dually, 4x4, CC with 4.10's and Jody's 40 hp tow pcm):

The last one, 9.63 mpg, was into a 50 mph headwind for almost 8 hours.
