I average around 14.5 but its mostly city driving on a all hwy ride I have seen high 16's but thats the best. I usually run around 74mph on the hwy and like to get on it in the city. I did get a bad tank of fuel two tanks ago that only gave me 10.2mpg and that was even on the hwy. I thought my truck was acting up but the next tank it went back to normal so I am contributing it to bad fuel. I notice about a 3mpg drop in winter usually and I don't know if its due to the blended fuel or the cold weather. I think I get worse mileage with #1 fuel?? I am still trying to figure out my fuel useage but this is what I am noticing.
I have a 00 F-250 4x4 ext cab short box auto 3.73 gears. open air filter. 103,000 on it. Uses no oil. Unloaed at 65mph the BEST i have gotten is 13.2 mpg. When i pull a 26ft enclosed that grosses 9,000 lbs i get and ave of about 7.5mpg. Alot of people say it should be better. and say they can get 10 or better pulling. The power is ok not great. I get alot of turbo flutter up hills. is this normal? I do run 80 but i have made 2 600 mile trips pulling 75-80mph- 7.4mpg @ 65mph- 7.1mpg no mountains. I know thats alot of trailer but i think i'm ready to back to gm. Just doesn't seem to be what it was hipped up to be. I only drive it in the summer i tryied the air filter no real change new fuel filter nothing seems to help.
The best is have seen in City is 14ish and HW it is 15 to 16ish. I have 4.10 gears and I clock only 60 MPH at 2K RPM...My lie-o meter claims that I get 24MPG.
I get 14 mpg avg. It stays towards this alot. Once in awhile it will have spikes up to 15 and it will go down to 13. this is with the evo on race, exh, intake. My truck is on 36x14.5 tho.
It's the speed you guys do is why your mileage is down!
Our state MAX is 65MPH - and I usually set around 60MPH using the cruise control...pretty flat country here compared to the US...about1800 rpm's.
Stock standard 7.3 2004 F250 4R100 Auto trans Crew Cab & Glass Canopy Long bed - standard tyres! 19.6Mpg last time out on the highway unladen!
We are on summer blend now.
I would like more MPG - hopefully the DP Tuner from Jody will help that in future!
Being yupside down - the Bernouli effect helps our air swirl down the turbo the right way a bit easier than you topsiders!
I have a 2003 F350 4x4 crew cab dually with 4.10 gears. I get about 12 mpg with about 6000 lbs and running 75-80 on the interstate. When I pull our bigger trailer (44' LQ horse trailer at about 11,000 lbs empty) it drops a good bit (probably 8.5-9 mpg). I realize that speed kills the mileage, but I like to get where I'm going. I normally run a Supertuner on either tow safe or level 2 (never level 3) and that seems to help a little.
Maybe you got slippage in the auto trans?
Is the torque converter locking up solid?
Don't sound right to me!
Think I have an idea tho - about comparing MPG figures!
Anyone know for 100% sure how many litres in a US Gallon?
Doesn't your 205 litre drum hold 55 US gallons - but only 44 of our English imperial gallons? I reckon theres up to 17% difference in MY MPG figures to yours because the US Gallon is less fuel than a imperial gallon!
When I'm talking MPG - I'm talking about a english imperial gallon
I have noticed a drop from 16.7 MPG in summer to 10.2 MPG this winter. Last winter it only dropped to 12.8 MPG. I have done a test and it confirmed my suspicions. My last 2 tanks I ran #2 offroad diesel without any "winterization" from the fuel company, I just added 1/2 quart of Power Service to prevent gelling. My MPG went back up to 15.9 MPG and my truck no longer "falls on its face" when getting on it off a stop light.
I figure whatever the oil companys are doing to the fuel in winter is responsible for the majority of my mileage loss. And now this ULSD winter blend is even worse. I always add 1/2 a quart of Diesel Kleen to the on road fuel because without it the stumble and mileage loss is even worse.
Maybe I am crazy but I am managing to get almost the same mileage in winter as I am in summer with the Off-road fuel. Or maybe my baby needs a little sulfur in her diet.
we got about the same truck..my build date is 3/98..when i first got my psd last feb..i was getting 17 to 18 around town and 20 to 21 on the hiway here in nh..i just went on a trip to florida with my mods i have now listed below...i used my 60 tow and crues set on 70 and got 22 to 23 mpg..on my way home i used the 80 econo crues set for 80 to 85 and got 18 mpg..this was all non stop driving other then fuel and tolls....here around town in 60 tow going to work in the cold with 15 minute warm ups night and day..im still getting 17 mpg...im also running stock 265 tires...
