Installing a 7 pin plug

I have a '99 f250 superduty and want to install a 7 pin plug. The only thing there now is the 4 wire flat plug wiring harness coming out of the plug under the truck. It has the factory tow package on it so will it already have the wiring run to the back of the truck for the 7pin plug? If so then all I should have to buy is a new wiring harness from ford, correct? I just don't want to have to splice into the factory wires in the back if I don't have to.

You should be able to get the complete pigtail assy from Ford for about 100 bucks. You may also need some relays in the little relay boxes under the hood.

Thanks for the reply. I will try to get the assembly today. I suppose they will tell me what relays I need?

Well most vehicles that were equipped with trailer tow package came with the relays and a trailer controller wiring harness, 7 pin connector already installed with hitch assembly. I think you will need one or maybe two of the full sized Bosch type common accessory Ford relay. Look in your owners manual for placement.
