Need trailer brake wiring help!

2005 E350 SuperDuty cutaway ( class C motorhome )

I have found the factory brake controller plug under dash and hooked up brake controller, however the harness going to the rear of the vehicle is a 4 pin. I also have a new 7 pin plug adapter installed, but i cant find where the extra wires go to control trailer brakes??? I followed the 4 pin harness back to near the fuel tank where it joins into a much larger harness, and there is a small round brown colored 4 pin plug there that is not being used. Would this be the wires for brakes? If so, where can i find a harness to plug into this? Or am i way off base?

Anyone ? I've traced the wires under the van all the way to the back and there are no unused wires at all other than that one plug which I'm now sure has nothing to do with it.

Fuse box under hood has the relays and fuses for trailer brakes already installed.
Brake controller hooked up to factory harness near ebrake bracket.

Can I just run a separate blue wire from the 7way connector all the way to the brake controller and splice it in there? What about the black hot wire?

I can't be too much help on a cut-away van chassis used to the class C motor homes. If you have the plug for the controller in the dash, you already have the black power off the battery and the blue to the trailer brakes in a harness, or should have as those leads are in the dash plug. No need to run them again. You can verify the black positive on the pin in the under dash plug.

I can't tell you where to find it under your chassis, but since you mention having an addition plug, check the pins with someone working the controller manually and see if you can find power on any of the pins. If you can, that is your brake controller harness. Why not call the manufacturer of your motor home and ask the service department where they hid them?

And yes, you can hard wire any aftermarket controller without using the harness. In the olden days that was what we had to do, but the harnesses make it a thousand times easier.

If you do a little searching, you will find a thread that shows which pin it is under the drivers seat floor board area.

In '08 and earlier, the blue wire terminated at that large harness under the driver's seat floor board. Without the 7-way factory harness at the rear, the van got a simpler rear harness section. It was one of the corner pins. I will see if I can find it.

Maybe try the Body Builders book from Ford. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...5/maintoc.html

Hopefully this will help.
