dually conversion

I've got a chance to purchase a 96 f350, 4x4, auto, dually, 460 gas truck for a good price. I'm considering swapping the rear axle to my 350 diesel as to make it a dually. any thoughts, special considerations, bad things about this? also, how are the dually conversion kits ive seen sold in jc whitney?? im interested more in just the look rather than serious load capacity.

if you can buy the truck cheap why not go that route?

well, i was thinking the kit from jc whitney because of the extreme difference in price. the guy is asking 5k for the truck and i think the conversion kit was 500.

The conversion kit, if it uses spacers, will not add weight capacity, only stability. Something happens to the bearings when you change the position of the rims out.

A cab/chassis truck and a factory p/u bed truck have two different frame widths, as well as wheelbases, springs and axles. Making a dually out of a single wheel is more pain in the butt than what it's worth. But if you're just going for "looks" it your nickel, waste it as you please.
