Hey I'm doing a 4x4 conversion on a 99 f-350 dually and was wondering if I have a automatic transfer case that I put in will the dash light come on with 4x4, or does a 2wd stock truck have a different cluster gauge then a 4x4 thanks for any answers!
I have a l99 2wd, and just changed out my dad bulbs to LED's. It most definitely has a spot on the lay-in labeled 4x4, also has a #37 bulb and housing...

My 2002 with ESOF has a 4WD module behind the glove box, pretty sure you will need that.
The 99 trucks have a GEM module. You will have to get a 4x4 enabled GEM module before using the ESOF features you are after. All 4x4 functions are routed through the GEM module mounted on the back of the central junction box by the driver's left knee. The GEM modules in the 4x2 trucks DO NOT have the software/hardware in their GEM modules to control 4x4. There is a sticker on the back of all GEMs (sandwiched between the module and the fuse box) that tells you what capabilities it is loaded with. Examples of a 4x2 Excursion and 4x4 Excursion:
2001 Excursion with 4x4. RKE=Remote keyless entry
2000 Excursion without 4x4. If I put this in my 4x4 X, I will lose the 4x4 capability, but everything else will work.
