Nothing wrong witht hat, though dealers rarely pay you waht the vehicles are worth. I only paid 1900 for mine because it was a trade in and the dealer had no idea what it was worth. I've put 6,000 miles on it since I bought in. It consumes no detectable amount of oil, 3,000 miles on Royal Purple, and the oil level has not changed. The oil is still a nice light color too. No coolant leaks either. The AWD has some minor issues, but after all these years, most of them do. Overall, the van is in great shape. The dealer simply undervalued it.
What kind of car are you leaning towards? I have some reliable information about older used cars. Most of my expertise is related to exhaust systems, but if a car has a documented history of major exhaust compnente failures, you want to avoid them if possible. I also know which vehicle has computer problems, as far as the way they are programmed. Some engineers didn't teach the computers how to compensate with age and deterioration.
I ended up getting a 1999 Mercury Mstique, not the car I wanted, but hubby brought it home as a present to me, but I can't complain the car gets up and gets lost fast.
Mystique is a pretty good car, but it can develop some very expensve problems. There are 2 catalytic converters up on hat manifold that often fail. Best thing to prevent this is to make sure the car is tuned properly all the time. Getting those replaced at the dealer often costs more that 2,000 USD, and even getting less expensive remanufactured parts can still run over 1000 USD. The one on the firewall side is time consuming to change, very labor intensive. For some reason it fails more often than the front one.
yeah..........I know, but it will do till I find the auto i really want and then the Mystique will be for the kids to drive........The only pronblem that I have had so far was an oil leak and it turned out to be coming from the oil filter. Got that fixed and its been runing great since.
Next time I sujest running a wire directly to the battery(positive side) and then several inches away put an inline fuse (15 to 20 amp) then use that wire to feed the radio or whatever it is you are installing, If ANYTHING GROUNDS OUT during your instalation the in line fuse will blow and nothing will be fried,,,,,,,
