I have a 93 ford areostar, and it blew a fuse in it and i changed all the fuses out to make sure they were all good, and now for some reason I do not have a speedometer, odometer, my warning ding doesn't work if the headlights are left on, or if the key is left in the ignition. I have disconnected the neg cable to the battery and let it sit for about 20 mins and hooked it back up thinking that the computer might need to be reset and that didnt work either.....Could some one PLEASE help me on this....
maybeypu need toadd fuses.... well. it is often wires damadged, if fuses were bad..... look at the wiring diagram and check wiring from fuse box to instrumental cluster.
ok. This is what happened I was installing a new cd player in it and the neg wire touched the power wire and sparked, it blew a fuse, I change that fuse, went to drive it and thats when i noticed what was going on so I got home and changed ALL the fuses out. I feel so dumb right now.
the first! wiering from fose box to cluster may be damadged. and there are fuse links, that may be damadged too. so have you AVO meter and wiering diagrams? well, you can do it without wiering diagrams by wires' colors. but you need to be accurate.... well it is 20-40 min. work!
The amount of time it will take to do it isn't a problem really, its I don't have a AVO meter handy. Just about all the tools are in the back of my husbands Jeep which is parked at the fire station that he works at......So I am stuck trying to figure this out before he gets home so that way I can take my van to my moms house for the holiday. If it wasn't for that reason I wouldnt worry about it right now, But its a little hard to put 7 people (5 kids, 2 adults) in a Jeep.
well. there are wiring diagrams on-line, but i dont know where. i have diagrams in my office, but i'm far from it. so may be someone can help us.... ok, read what the fuse is for ins. cluster, unscrue fuse box and look what the wires leads from it. and check the voltage on fuse. sometimes, when there is no voltage on fuse you can connect the fuse with short wire to term. 15 (ing. on) and use it as temporary mean. if there is +12 voltage on fuse, fix the wire from fusebox to ins. cluster
All the fuse's are good in the fuse panel. Done checked them and replace them all to be on the safe side. After replacing all of them i still do not have a speedometer, odometer, my warning ding doesn't work if the headlights are left on, or if the key is left in the ignition. To be honest i can do with out the warning ding. But any ways I was told to look for the fuseable links and check them, but i don't know where they are or where to begin looking for them or even how to check if they are good.
What the fuse blew when you shot to ground wire? check the voltage on it first. do it with check light ore AVO meter. it is so easy! if there is no voltage on it the wiring before fuse box is bad, but it seems to me wire from fuse box to cluster is bad now.... well... it is easy to do it, but you need tools. the next: if you find bad fuse link you can relace it with wire, but temporary only.
OK. checked all the wires going to the fuse panel the other day, they are all showing that they are good. I guess what I am asking is which fuseable link do i need to check and where abouts is it located?
Ok! lets start from the beggining! bad wire may look well. do you remember, what fuse blew? i belive yes, if you are not sure, you can read info on the cover of the fuse box. tommorow i'll will look at the wiring diagramm and tell you what colors of wires, what terminals to chek. well, my icq is 322319089... i belive, you can repare your wiering, but you need AVO meter.... and you really must kneel near your aero.... gee....
I thank you for all your help, But tomorrow I will not be home I leave for a 6 hour drive to my mothers house. And the fuse that blew was for the radio.
