Changing or moving steering Column in 64

What do you all do with this really long column and huge steering wheel. Do I have to get a shorter one, or can I reposition it all? Any tips would be great. Thanks

The huge steering wheels gave the neccessary leverage to steer the beasts, which came without power steering.

I saw a 1961 integral bodied custom truck at Pomona several years ago that had an aftermarket tilt/telescopic steering wheel...the column was shorter also. You might check around various aftermarket suppliers, or check out some custom truck magazines.
