Arrow Pretty cool deal . . .

They make several styles but these are perminately mounted to the trailer hitch. There is a U bolt that comes down over the hitch and bolts at the bottom of the light bracket. They are called WhiteKnight Backup lights.

The hitch insert locks through the standard holes and secures the the lights from being taken off. You can take the hitch out and place a cover plate (comes w/ unit) over the hole if you don't like your hitch on all the time.

They operate in the reverse gear and there is a switch on the back of the unit that allows you to turn them on manually or off completely as well.

Pretty neat setup and summit racing, a sponser, had them on 50% off recently.

Ronin007 I saw your gallery, those look good. You did I nice, neat job on the dash switches too. I'm in western Suffolk county, Long Island. Today I tried fitting one in the outside bumper hole. Looked ok, maybe a bit far to the outside but it will make it an easy install as I now see the mount pad on the lights is adjustable to accomidate the side to side angle of the bumber. Now I just have to figure the best way to get the wire to the upfitter switch, probably up the drive's side I guess. Lonewolftx those white knights look nice too. Thanks for the help guys.
In case anyone is interested here is what I did for aux lighting. I purchased 2 Summit 6" driving lights with H3 100w bulbs (SUM-G6280F), changed the bulbs to 130w Hella. Then I used those 100w bulbs for the backup lights (SUM-871002) that came with 55w. Pretty good deal and the quality seems ok.

I had lights mounted in the outer holes on the bumper of my old truck and found that the rear tires covered them in mud/snow all the time. Eventually the lights got filled up with muck and wouldn't work anymore. If I had to do it over again I would probably do something like lonewolf or wlihnter. Just a heads up.

Thanks for the tip Beerstalker. I've added Husky mud flaps so I think I'll be ok there. Maybe.

Netfly - Thanks. They turned out better than I thought and were super cheap. The lights were only $10 each and the light switch and harness were leftover from a set of Hella 500's that I had put on my Range Rover. Put a new set of Hella 500 fogs on the front of the SD so that is how I have matching switches.

Hey join the NY Chapter as there several members on Long Island. I hope to get down that way for a G2G so possibly we could meet up. We are having a G2G in Western NY this March if you are interesting in attending and see some member's trucks.

Beerstalker - That was the reason why I mounted mine more inboard and I also sealed mine up real good. I have next to nothing invested in mine so that if they get taken out plowing or from the ice and snow it wouldn't bother me.

Can you hook in two 55 watt lights (9.2 amp) directly to the back up wire on the 7 pin towing connector, or do you need a relay? Thank you, Philip.

Wink Sure, NP

The whiteKnights in my setup are those and they are hooked up to the trailer wires directly.

Lonewolf,

Do you need to relocate the trailer wiring connector for the receiver mounted backup lights? Also, do they light up good, both sideways and straight out? That seems to be the most protected area to mount them.

Thanks

Lonewolf, Check out Knight Lights website. They do list a plug relocation plate for the 2004SD. They may also interfere with the loops for the trailer safety chains. I tow allot, so I may mount lights like wlihntr. I am still wondering if I need a relay or if I can just hook 110 watts up to the back up wire to the trailer plug. Also, I do not have the Ford hitch, but a Draw-Tite, which mounts lower than the factory hitch. Not sure what problems I would run into with the Knight Lights there. Philip
