Mounting backup lights

I'm trying to mount a pair of lights similar to these:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D871003&N=70 0+4294925242+4294839017+400304+115&autoview=sku
under my rear bumper. I want them roughly an the ends of the receiver and directly under the bumper, but there doesn't seeem to be an easy mount point there. The bumper doesn't extend under enough to give me something good to drill into. There is one hole in the bumper but its a little too far to the outside and angles too much to the side to use easily. They require one bolt vertically to mount. Anyone done something similar? Any ideas appreciated.

i took some metal tubing that fit over the bolts then cut one end at 23 degrees so i could mount the lights to the curved part of the bumper bracket and the lights would be level.

You could make a bracket to bolt to your frame or hitch and then attach the lights to that.

I opted to french my PIAA backup lights into my rear bumper. I believe I have pics in my gallery.

Thanks for the idea wlihntr. Sorry to be so thick, I'm not sure I understand exactly how you fit it. Where you cut the tube end at an angle you mounted the angle against the back of the bumper with the bolt catching just one side of the tube? And how thick a tubing did you use, small exhaust tubing? I noticed you mouted them closer together than I was planning, roughly centered between the parking assist sensor dots on each side.
DCSpecial I considered mounting a bracket to the hitch, but its probably the toughest thing to drill under there and not really that close to where I need it, but thanks for the idea.

it is kind of hard to explain. the tubing (or sleve) is a little bigger than the bolt and pretty thick. the mounting bolt goes through it and attaches the the horizontal (but curved) bracket behind the bumper. the 23* slash cut is on the end that contacts the bracket (to compensate for the curveture of the bracket) then its bolted from the top. i knew i should of taken pictures when i did it...

Just curious,
Why you don't like the pre-existing holes already on the underside of the bumper - closer to the outer ends of the bumper?

That's where I mounted mine on my 03 and actually pointed them out to the
side a bit cuz the rear quarters were where I couldn't see

jdadamsjr that's the hole I was intending to use. I'll size them up again. I thought they may stick out too far to the sides, but yours look like they fit well.

Netfly - check out my gallery as I used the receiver to mount mine. Where are you in NY? You could see mine in person if you like at our next G2G (check the NY Chapter forum). It wasn't that tough to drill, but my buddy does have a fully stocked shop.

Personally I preferred the receiver location as apposed to the bumper locations to keep them protected when I snow plow. Some places that I plow are really tight and I have put my bumper against a snow bank. I was afraid that the bumper mounting locations would put them in harms way.
