The maximum continuous temperature is 220F, and the maximum for short term (less than 30 minutes) is 250F.

To cool the trans fast idle in park or neutral. NEVER turn the engine off if the trans is overheated. It needs the pump to continue to move fluid to cool it off.

Thanks Casey, I can rest easier now, it only ran at 235 for about 5 minutes or so. I'm still going to change the fluid.
