turbo surge

anyone have this problem? Going about 55 or 60 with a steady throttle, the turbo seems to surge up and down 2 or 3 psi. Its wierd. It doesnt do it under a load just cruising.

Sounds like you need a new VGT solenoid. I've seen that problem on a few trucks.

I had this happening to my 04 6.0 as well. I took it to the dealer and they suspected an exaust pressure sensor that was under recall. They replaced it and did a re-flash and I have not had the problem since.

Where is the exhaust pressure sensor located? I changed the fuel filters on my truck two days ago and found a sensor behind the fuel filter to be unplugged. I plugged it back in. I dont know if this has anything to do with it or not.

I don't know where it is, just know the dealer said there was a recall on it and so they replaced it.

ok thats two for the vgt actuator and one for the ebt sensor. Is there any other problems that would be happening with the failure of either sensor or accuator? something to narrow the problem child down to?

well, it is picking up the rpms with it so it might get a little louder but for the most part it is staying pretty normal.
