error code P1400
About two weeks ago I replaced my DPFE sensor, when the CEL came on,
now I just got an error code P1400:Manufacturer Controlled Auxillary Emission Controls.
Can someone translate this into layman's terms?
Thanks,
However, I've also heard that a P1400 might also be set when the PCM reads a lower voltage than expected, and not necessarily just an out-of-range condition. In such cases a P401 code would be anticipated as well, but I suppose you never know. As such, it might be wise for you to check over the entire EGR system to the best of your ability, using the tips and suggestions put forth in this thread:

HERE is a summary of the Ford EGR/DPFE system for further reference.
So, try pulling the DPFE electrical connector & check the reference voltage, between the two outside connections (VREF & DPFE) connections. It should be between 4.0-6.0 volts.
If it's low or non-existent it may be as Rockledge has suggested, a wiring problem, or a computer problem, as the computer generates the VREF signal, or even a low B+ voltage, from a weak battrey or acting out alternator, but seems to me if it were the latter, you'd likely have other problems too & you haven't mentioned any.
Just some more things for consideration.
Let us know what you find.
