94 explorer with wiper problems
Hi all, i'm new here (first post).
I just bought a '94 Explorer XLT which is running great but the wipers have been acting up. The fast setting always works but the slow and intermittent settings will only work some of the time. If they're not working and I leave it on one of the slower settings, it will eventually come on but it can take anywhere from
5 min - 30 mins to activate. Then at some point during the same trip they'll stop again. Anyone have any ideas??
I was going to put a new wiper motor in but I thought it could also be the relays.

I had the same problem on my 94, and replaced the motor, which fixed it.
I do recall saying I would NEVER, EVER do that job again. My hands aren't huge, but were way too big to deal with the tight quarters for this job. I also lost a clip somewhere and had to go to the dealer mid-job to get a replacement.
Whatever they charge to do this is probably worth it, they either have more patience or maybe there are some shortcuts I wasn't aware of...
I've also heard that this could be a problem with the switch in the steering column. Perhaps one of the senior users will chime in here.
