Drove my normal approx 35 mile trip into work this morning. Pulling in I noticed my tow haul was flashing and the check guages light was on in which I then noticed my trans temp was pegged on hot. Seemed to be running and driving fine and the floorboard wasnt hot. Fluid is normal and doesnt smell burnt. Tried to serch forum but not executive member. Any thoughts? Tow in or attempt to drive in to dealer? '03 6.0 auto with 75k miles.

you need a new trans fluid temp sensor. seen a few of these just go stupid. its like a 70 dollar part and you just have to drop the pan and 1/4 turn and pop it out.
Thank you, I let it sit for maybe 50 minutes and started it and the trans temp was already cold. Drove it to the dealer and the trans got to normal range and then all of a sudden pegged on hot. Hopefully they wont charge me to much labor to fix this. I am having them do a trans flush at the same time.
Would that be part of the powertrain warranty or not?
It is part of the powertrain warranty, but how will that help you? The powertrain warranty is 3 years/36000 miles. The engine warranty is 5 years/100000 miles.

I believe I have the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty on my powertrain, but mine is an 07 and I believe Ford did that as they had to step up to the challenge GM had put on them.
How it got that way makes no difference to me, I'm just happy to have it.
I thought that if the truck was over 36,000 miles then something like the tranny would not be covered, only the engine/turbo and with 100 dollar deductible. I may be wrong.
