On the way to work today, 5 miles into a 9 mile drive and 76deg outside, the trans gauge went to full hot. The tow/haul light was flashing and it was shifting harder than usual. Checked the fluid and it appears fine...
Ideas? This has not ever happened before and really has me worried now!
edit; engine operating temp is/was normal during this exciting experience.

Reason: added info
Your TFT sensor in the trans is bad and has to be replaced. It's no big deal to replace it, about a 1.5 hour job. You need 8 quarts of Mercon SP or LV fluid and a new sensor.
There cheap now about $15 they were about $70 but since thousands have been failing over the years Ford must have stockpiled them. Yes it's a stocked item. Do a search on the forum, I wrote a procedure on replacing it. P.S. since you just changed the fluid, I would catch it when draining for return.
