I agree with one of the posters above. The Midas was a conversion done by a van or RV conversion company. There were quite a few of them done back in the day. One of the guys where I work has a 87 or so Chev suburban 4x4. It is a Starcraft conversion. (Starcraft is a RV manufacturer) Upgraded seats, upholstery and real wood inserts on the interior along with a decal package on the exterior. Were they common? Not really, but you did see them around every now and then. Same with the Midas and a myriad of others................And they were a remnant or off shoot of the '70s van craze............I was never that fond of them, but to find one today that's still recognizable is pretty rare.....
I have a 79 Midas factory brochure at work. The did vans, trucks, couriers, and broncos. They did more to the insides than outside, bucket seats, dual sunroofs, things like that. I am snowed in now but when I get back to work I will try to take picks of the brochure and upload them.
I would recommend a marti report maybe get a hold of the original dealer from the report I'm not sure if those reports would say any info about it being shipped to a conversion company
I have visited this site for years looking for one of these trucks and they are very rare these days. My family owned one brand new in 78 and from what i understand the midas touch edition trucks were an option for dealers to order through ford direct. Our local dealer had 2 on the lot when we bought ours. Unfortunately ours was stolen in the late 80s when a family member took it to oklahoma. ill try and post a pic. i beleive they came in blue, silver and black.
How do i attach a pic?
Thanks for the suggestion on getting the report. I'll have to look into that! Oh my goodness please post pics! I'm dying to see another one of these rigs! I've never seen another one like her, on the internet or otherwise. The only other example I've seen is the pic posted above, and it's not the same color scheme.
