Picked up my new 07 today. Once I got all the paperwork finalized and I was pulling out of the dealership I look down and realize the check engine light is on. Cripes what a way to start off with a brand new truck. Drove around the block and when back in to see if I could get the code pulled, but the shop is closed on Saturday afternoons now. Had to get in booked in next week. Sales manager mentioned when I bought it on Thursday it had flashed the light due to low amps when he was starting it. It has been -22F to -32F here at night for the last week and the morning he started it for me it was about -4 F. He thought the batteries may be low. So after driving around town for a bit and going home to install my tonneau off of my 05 I filled it to the brim with winter grade ULSD and a bottle of Ford fuel conditioner. Hit the highway and varied the speed every ten minutes from 56 to 62 to 68mph up and down. Had one jaunt up to 95 to see how t felt when passing some rigs. Got back into town after 240 miles and fueled up at the same pump to check my mileage. (which was in kms) I think in miles so I converted it to see what I got. The lie O meter in the dash was saying 19.86 mpg cdn and hand calculated it came out to 19.26mpg cdn ( about 16mpg US). I felt this was very good for a new engine running winter fuel (ULSD at that) and not running at a constant speed. I was surprised to see the on board system was only off by .6mpg cdn. Making me feel better about going to a diesel more all the time. Have to go out and change to oil now as it comes with 15w40 from the factory, need to put in some 0w30.
Congrats on the new truck. You are really gonna enjoy it. I thought you were gonna wait for the new 08 to come out though. Along with 0w30 oil you should consider an oil pan heater. Seems like we're gonna have a cold winter up here in the snow covered Kuwait.
BTW did the engine light go out after you drove it?
what exactly is it your trying to say here.... becuase it looks like your trying to talk s#!t.. if that be the case i would advise you to regroup and try a new aproach. We wont tolerate that in the form. and if it continues you may be banned from this form all together... just some advise...

It went out after I restarted the truck after I got back from my little trip.
As for the 08 I researched it untill I was going to go nuts. Decided with all the new emissions and the fact it can only use ULSD it could prove to be a headache until things get finished changing over. I would hate to end up somewhere that didn't have the correct fuel. That and it is going to be so difficult to work on if something does go wrong. I was thinking about getting the 08 with a V10 again, but the dealer offered me a deal on this truck I couldn't say no to.

also contrats on the new truck......
I was trying to congratulate the man on his new, very expensive truck. People in Alberta are enjoying a robust economy due to the oil sands. People in Canada wear winter hats called "touques." You are a very hyper reactive person. Canadians would get the joke.

Roger that... no harm no foul... Being that I'm an American and didnt know it was a Canadian thing, I apolagize. It just seemed like you were saying something totaly off the wall.. sorry for the mix up..
Trucks built after Jan1/07 must meet the new diesel emission standards. The only Ford that will meet it will be the new 6.4l in the 08 model. Production on them starts Dec. 18th and will start to show up at some dealers the first week of January.
No harm done above BTW. I took no offence to it, just smiled a little.
