Electrical issues/post in wrong forum earilier

I have a '97 F250 w/ 7.3L...can't keep batts charged. Interior lights stay on so I pulled the fuse, batt still discharges. Altenator puts out 12volts. Bad relays? Bad volt regulator? Other issues will post later...electrical is the biggist problem..
Confused in Mich...

if the alternater is putting out 12 volts it is not charging. it needs to be around 14 to 14.5.

I put the voltmeter on the red wire on the back of the alt and the other to the neg term on batt...is this correct to check voltage?

i have never done it that way, i just put it on the batteries

Welcome to FTE brandstruck

If you want me to move you into the 7.3L section I can, but an electrical problem is just that and I think our resident technicians have worked on few older trucks.....I used to have a 95 7.3L so we know what your going through with any problem.
