I've had my PSD for about 6 months on the road now and put about 12, 000 miles on it. Around town I'm averaging 16 and the highway I had up to 22 mpg. I know some of you are going to say BS but the fuel log doesn't lie. I just want to pass on some of the tricks I learned and try to help other of my FT E buddies some bucks and maybe some trouble free driving, so here we go 1. Tire pressure, I run 275/65/20 michelins at 75 psi and watch them every week, 2 air filter I put in a brand new motorcraft filter and there was a noticable difference. 3.fuel pressure I ck mine and it was low so in went the blue spring mod, big difference in drivability. 4 battery voltages if it's not up to par ck batteries and alt your FICM will love you for it.5 monitor your pids and watch for changes from the norm, sensors can go at anytime. 6.fuel additives, I run diesel kleen in the gray bottles the recommended dose and it does make a difference also every fill up I add 1onuce to every 2 gals of diesel of wally world 2 stroke oil.It quiets down the injector and raises the lub of the ULSD. 7 The biggest thing is the skinny pedal I try to never push it over 15 pounds of boost when excellerating and keep on it till up to speed, I also leared to "coast" there's a lot of iron rolling down the road and it rolls a lot farther than you think, also antisapate stops, let off the go pedal and keep a eye ahead of traffic.I've found that 1825-1850 rpm is my mills sweet spot on the highway and when going up grades I never push it over 10 psi of boost. I know some people will say it not practical but with a little time trying it and paying attention to doing it, watch the numbers add up.......Happy motoring , Bill
Congrats. Mine is similar, 19.5 on the highway and 17 mixed. I think it would be a little better if I put the factory tires back on.
Good info on the boost observations.
What is the thinking behind the 2 stroke oil, more lubricity?
Josh
Yes, it works too
My 7.3 with Stage I injectors quiets right down with some 2 stroke in the tank.
It's either that or run 5% Bio which is available at most stations these days. I'm currently looking for a 6.0 Excursion to either replace or be a companion to my 7.3 so I've been doing some serious reading. From what Ford says, you can run bio in a 6.0, just not more than 5%.
In a 7.3 you can run B100 all day everyday (except the winter) and not have issues, but B100 though cheaper, doesn't agree with the 6.0.
Beg to differ with you regarding B-100 in a 6.0
Myself and a few others have been running it for several years.
I for one am at over 50K miles on b100
That said you can not push it in the colder weather seasons I go back to pump diesel when it drops to 35-40deg at night.
No fuel heater in later model 6.0 primary fuel filter can cause big issues such as starving for fuel then U buy injectors.....
I discovered the 2 stroke oil adding down at the marina from a old timer with issues with the ULSD in the fork lift kept the injectors happy and stopped the stalling.....really sucks when the machine bucks and you drop a $70, 000 boat
I play once in awhile, mess with the rice burners, the wife tells me to grow up......that's why she doesn't go out with me in the Vette.....cause I drive it like I stole it.

Tire smoke is too much fun. Hard on things and tends to cost money.
Nice report. Im getting about 13.5-14.5 mixed and 16-19 highway. Im on 35s with a 4" lift though. Stock tune. Id like to try to get it up a little higher though, think it can do better.
