Well I put in ULSD last fillup, because its all they had were I stopped last night. Took 40 miles for the fuel guage to come up to full. Never has it ever taken more then 2 seconds from the time i hit the key to go to full. And its not like i havent filled it for two months, or the truck sits, it gets driven every day and im down to about 600 miles a week lately. WTF. Secondly, this morning when I started the truck, it began as normal, and when I left, the check engine light came on, and it acted like it lost a cylinder, and took about 10 miles for it to come back. hmm time for off road diesel?
Is this the 1st time you have used ULSD? Can you read the fault codes? I don't believe we have it here in Washington yet..anyway I have not noticed any sign on the pump stating ULSD.
the ULSD has nothing to do with it...you have other problems. dont know about your gauge issue but most of the time when you get a SES light and a miss it has to do with the UVC plug or harness
i doubt the ulsd has anything to do with it. i have run 3 tanks of it and havent noticed any difference and you have probably been running it for a while just that the stations werent certified yet so there wasnt a sign on the pump but there was probably ulsd in their tanks
I agree with Muktown. I have an 02 as well and have had ulsd for about a month now and have run close to 7 tanks of it now with no problems. Make sure to change the fuel filter though after about 3 tanks because it cleans everthing out pretty good.
Yes its the first tank for this truck, our other early 99 doesnt seem to mind it. Its just odd, because right up untill that last tank of fuel, everything was fine. Just fired it up after letting it sit most the day, as we took another truck, same issue, it acts like its missing again, SES is on. Suppose ill have to make a trip to the dealer to get the codes read.
I have to agree with the others in that your problem cannot possibly be fuel related. We stared seeing the ULSD early in my area and I have been running it without problems since September.
Need to get that codes very doubtfull the ULSD caused the code. Only thing I have seen abnormal since they started weening ULSD into the supply is a rash of drain valve o-ring leaks and that may or may not be related could just be those o-rings are going on 5-6 years old

And that's a very good point. Supposedly switching to ULSD can cause fuel leaks, but it's supposed to be where there are weak or corroded o-rings. It's possible that ULSD has found the weak spot on our trucks.
actually my truck seems to run a bit better with the ULSD, i still use 16oz per fill up of DK, but i changed my fuel filter and noticed better performance. i have to agree with the folks out on the forum that the new diesel actually does a good job of cleaning up our PSD's!
