Powerstroke Computer Upgrades

I got a '97 F-250 Powerstroke I just recently put 4" straight through exhaust, I have the mandrel 3" downpipe and an AFE Stage 2 Air Filter. I got the Banks Transcommand and a Banks Ottomind chip. I am ready to get rid of the chip and get a higher horsepower programmer or chip but the highest horse I can find is 100HP and I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get more than that.

Those HP numbers are not possible with the 94-97 powerstrokes, they are limited by their injector size. Most the hp numbers from chips and programmers came from newer 99-03 psd.

I would recomend getting a multi position chip from DP tuner or Tony Wildman, they make the truck run smooth and make better power

with stock injectors in these trucks the most hp you can gain is 75 and even then idle is a little rough, i have 65hp on my chip and that works excellent, great power on takeoff and no rough idle

I have a 96 Stroke I just Picked up recently...

A lil off topic but what would u recommend for the first upgrade? air intake exhuast or chip? I think i remember reading that a chip won't do anything until u've done the other two.

Talking

When in doubt, let her exhale. It won't matter how much you try to stuff into her if she can't clear the cylinders. Besides, you'll notice more gain when you do the intake and chip after the exhaust.

I haven't done it, yet, but this is my plan, after I get some gauges. Boost, tranny temp, and rear diff temp, are good first upgrades. You won't get any power from gauges, but you do get to see what is going on inside.

Injectors are way down on the list; for me anyway.

Think about it this way: If you exhale a partial amount, how much more can you inhale? Same thing with the gas engines. Once you clear the cylinders of the spent fuel/air mixture, you can get a larger, fresher mix of fuel/air in for combustion. The fresher the air in the cylinders, the better the combustion.

Good luck, and enjoy.

I have the exhaust and the air box like I said in my previous post. Does anybody know what size injectors I can put on there safely and what size are the stock ones.

Stage 2 injectors are the most a stock engine can handle without other mods.

Stock injectors ~100cc
stage 1s ~160cc
stage 2s ~160cc but flow more at lower rpms

Need those gauges to keep track of the added power too
