gpr 109 question

Hi all, just replaced the glow plugs, and did the gpr 109 about a year ago. My question is, should the gp relay have power to the switched side when warm or only when cold?

When I went to start the truck after work it didnt want to fire up the first time, came home to check the relay, (with a test light) and there was no power to the switched side with the key on.

Do I need a new relay?

If the engine oil temperature is above 55°C (131°F), the powertrain control module will bulb-check the WAIT TO START lamp but not energize the glow plug relay.

I just learned that yesterday sifting through the shop manual. I put a new relay on and tested it. No voltage drop since the engine was still warm and the PCM decided they didn't have to be on. The oil must have been higher since I recently drove it. Had to wait until this morning to get the plugs to glow.
